Snow

Does anyone else remember the days when you would wake up for school, see that it snowed, and run to the television to see if school was cancelled for the day. I would lock my eyes on the screen, not wanting to miss that glorious moment when the name of my school would flash across the bottom of the screen. When I didn't see that name though...
I would flip between the three main channels over and over again, waiting, watching, hoping, sometimes praying. School had to be cancelled! All these other school get a day off! Belle Plaine doesn't have school! Are you kidding me!! I would make excuses, thinking that maybe the news station messed up, maybe Bluestem just hadn't called in yet, maybe they were about to. There was no way they'd expect us to drive in this. I would watch the names over and over, almost like someone watching lottery numbers and truly believing he would win. I just wouldn't give up. Anger would increase. It would be about three minutes until school started and I would still be in front of the tv hanging on to that one last chance that maybe I missed something somewhere. At that point I would be having thoughts of either skipping school or wrecking my vehicle on purpose so I could tell the school how stupid they were for not canceling. I was very intense about the safety of the students!
Anyway, I completely relived all those emotions and feelings today. I started last night, calling the school, texting people to see if we had it, watching the news. This morning I woke up and immediately made the call to see if school was on. The message told me it was but of course I didn't believe it. That couldn't be right. I turned on the news, all the right names coming across the screen: Wichita Trinity, Wichita Indpendent, All Wichita high schools, Friends University, Newman University, Butler, Steve's Amazing Martial Arts Experts...Even BLUESTEM!!! And of course since I'm enrolled in WSU, they chose not to cancel. I thought about calling in and yelling at the school for the safety of all the students who have to drive, to tell them how stupid they are.
Anyway I'm posting this at 8:35...My first class started at 8:30.
Yeah I'm skipping today
