This past Christmas I woke up and turned the tv on to find an old favorite Christmas movie of mine... Not White Christmas, not A Christmas Story...I'm talking about Jingle All the Way!!!

Its funny, it brought me way back to a very distinct time with my dad. Most of my time spent with my father was watching action and comedy movies featuring some of my dad's favorite actors: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, Jean Claude Van Dame, John Candy, and Chris Farley. Its funny how constantly watching these same actors over and over somehow made me delusional to the quality of acting that is really out there. I remember hearing the term "A list actor" on the television and went to my dad to find out what the phrase meant. He explained to me how it was a term used for the actors who were the very best of the best, the highest paid, most wanted for any movie, actors. I also remember my response to this: "Oh you mean like Arnold and Jean Claude?"...

Wow! How can an opinion be so inaccurate! Its amazing how much a limited view of things along with what we learn from the people we are raised by effects are views and opinions and values. If you don't know what I'm talking about, check out this acting. This is what I really believed to be the best of the best.

Pretty good, right? As I grew of course I saw real acting, and I saw other opinions, and my opinion changed. I found there were more than just intense action and stupid comedies. I found there were actually actresses that were famous. I found that movies could have a point, and inspire, and didn't have to have blood. Still, there was this time in my life where I would have argued with any of my friends to the death that Arnold was the most versatile actor there was. Who else could play everything from the Terminator, to Danny DeVito's twin, to a kindergarten teacher. This guy could do it all!

Yeah I learned, and I am still learning other things. Even now, I think I know it all, but at the same time I know that my understanding is limited by my environment as well as my experience. I try to be more open minded about others views and not think that I am always right. I try to be balanced and see both sides of something. I try not to be judgemental on other opinions or values. I really believe that we need to find a balance in our world views.

I'm glad I found this group with all of you guys. You've really balanced me out in several ways and broke me from some disastrous ways of thinking. After all this was once my favorite actor:) http//www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfmdsGrjW7M&feature=PlayList&p=02299E0816D85127&index=5
